TrackaPhone was formed in 2002 and took the very first commercial mobile network location feed to build a location platform for the protection of people.
Phil Derry – CEO
Phil served 13 years in the Royal Signals in various operational roles where he reached the rank of Sgt and then was commissioned into the TA.
His last job in the military was to lead a 6 month expedition in Colombia after which he worked for Plessey and then established a variety of businesses from leisure to communication systems maintaining year on year growth and profitability through national and international contacts, particularly in the USA and China.
He has established new products and services in the communications market taking business on to the OTC,BB, NASDAQ and AIM market. He has a degree in leadership and management and has studied at Sussex University, Henley Business School and MIT.
He Joined TrackaPhone full time in 2002 bringing with him his extensive experience in the development and management of start-up and small businesses.
Simon Derry – CTO
On leaving school Simon spent three years with British Telecom Research Laboratories gaining extensive experience in software design and development obtaining an HND. He then obtained an Honours Degree in Electronic Systems and Information Engineering studying at Sheffield and Grenoble. Simon is an experienced software developer with a proven and thorough understanding of engineering and business requirements together with significant project management expertise.
This has been gained in various assignments as a software programmer and manager both in the UK’ and Europe. In 1999 he was the key software developer for Traffic Master, developing both the Trackstar product and PC based applications which enabled Vodafone to design and preview potential GUI’s for the AA Vodafone Personal Roadwatch product.
He also developed TrafficMaster’s prototype modules for in-car traffic information displays for motor manufacturers. After 12 months of initial development Simon founded TrackaPhone and has been fully responsible for the design of the systems within TrackaPhone and continues to develop and upgrade the system to meet ever changing needs in the market place.
Alan Davidson – Commercial Manager
Alan qualified as a Chartered Accountant with one of the ʻbigfour’ and he is now a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has varied experience both as a Finance Director and Managing Director of organisations ranging from SMEs to International Public Companies. Alan joined TrackaPhone in 2002
David Leadbitter – Sales Operations Manager
After getting a BSc in Microbiology, David began his career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep for Sanofi, but somehow found his way in to the Telecoms Industry in 2000, first as a Business Acquisitions Manager with Vodafone UK , and finally as the National Sales Manager for the Vodafone vehicle tracking product, ‘Corporate Eye’. David moved to TrackaPhone in June 2005 and has since been instrumental in the development of our overall sales operations and service offering.
Chris Davidson – Technical Support Operations Manager
Chris joined Trackaphone in 2005, and heads up our technical support and manages our technical development resources .Prior tothis from 2001 he worked in an IT environment within the NHS and Financial sector. Chris has a BSc Hons degree and an MSc inComputer Based information Systems.
